HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Pleased to return again
as one of the "originals"!

Greetings!
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007
I was pleased to spend another New Years Eve
down memory lane!
One always moves ahead, but one never forgets
how skills such as walkaround/performance techniques
were developed...

Thanks to Zane Culliton for photos!
Photo - years ago at Lulu's with Charlie Chaplin!
Had a wonderful opportunity to go back again to the past this
New Year's Eve
which brought about this
REFLECTION:
From 1987 to 1993, l had the pleasure and honour of working as Charlie Chaplin at Lulu's Roadhouse, Kitchener, Ontario
''Most of these artists if contacted would give Michael an excellent recommendation; although in doing so, please refer to him as Charlie Chaplin as most don't know his real name!". This
was a fact to many I was always called Charlie for this reason no one knew my actual name and Charlie personality was very strong to people.
Lulu's Roadhouse, was a wonderful place for a mime artist to develop his craft. The high energy and rhythmic atmosphere made gesture and body movement a powerful tool. I was able to use the music to set rhythmn and beat, much as a dancer in a ballet reacts to music.
Final note, one thing that a lot of people do not know is on my first try out at Lulu's in 1987,to my shock and surprise I recognized Adam from way back when at that time in his 20's, he almost ran me over with his motor boat as a boy. We then became friends and I use to hang out with him and his grandmother. When I asked "What are you doing here Adam?"he said: "My father is the owner of Lulu's!"... and that is my introduction to Lulu's. |
Below is a favourite newspaper clipping:

More reflections to come...
In the meantime, here's to continuingly
improve my craft with
a favourite mime character
now known internationally as

CHARLIE CHAPLIN's CANADIAN TRAMP!
May this year 2007
bring you and yours much
peace, good health and also with great importance...
LAUGHTER!

Fond memories - New Year's Eve - December 31, 2006!
