Michael Carl O'Neil
reflects on his Living Statue Series
Sir John A. Macdonald and Queen Victoria
(two of the first of many created thereafter!)
From start.... to finish!!
Sir John A. Macdonald's Living Statue
My very first living statue!

This reflects the interest that people (particularly children)
have with the application of the makeup!
Indeed, as a mime artist, I encourage children to explore the artform, including application!

Putting on the makeup is actually the beginning of the show....
It creates a lots of curious on-lookers and gives audiences
something to look forward to - the END product!

The application can be a very creative job!

As a close-up.... one can see it can get pretty tricky.
But I enjoy it immensely!
Here we are...

Up close!! I'm really very friendly! Honest!!!

Sir John A. Macdonald's Living Statue - a sample of the end product!
Always proud to be Canadian!!

An international icon!
Here performing at a corporate event for the Bank of Montreal....

Sir John A. Macdonald's Living Statue!
Surprise - every makeup application can be a bit different!

Toronto Buskerfestival 2001
As it is the month of May.... Queen Victoria's birthday!
I'm revealing more about this character
Queen Victoria's Living Statue
Unusual picture?
Yes, this is the first time I tried on my
Queen Victoria's Living Statue!

Here I am - fully dressed except for makeup of course.
Very proud of this costume...

This is the front view...

Every Queen has a crown!
It's a pity - more people should think of the environment
and take the bus!

Most would think a statue performance is stationary,
it can be...
However, my own technique of bringing statues to life...
places Queen Victoria's Living Statue in all sorts of places!
My words of wisdom...as an professional mime artist...
May we value history... yet bring it alive into
our world!
Here's to Sir John A. Macdonald and Queen Victoria!

Cheers!

Remember laughter is the best medicine....

This is probably what Queen Victoria may have wanted to do!?
