On September 18th, 2001, I was on route to perform for my second time at this year's 2001 Barcelona Arts de Carrer Festival in Spain... upon my return to Canada, I was shocked and saddened to hear of the sad passing of Mr. Coombs, which also happened on September 18th.

Just meeting him this past New Year's Eve, while performing in Toronto, was an honour that I was always treasure. I feel blessed that I had the opportunity as our paths crossed. I am very pleased to dedicate this feature photo month as a tribute to his memory, and also share my special memory of meeting him, sharing a few stories and laughs.

Indeed, Mr. Dressup, as he was so fondly called, was a talented Canadian entertainer who brought much joy and laughter to an entire generation of young Canadians. He was a great inspiration to other entertainers. On a personal note, I know from the brief experience, when I met him, he greatly encouraged entertainment that would bring happiness to children. He taught many important lessons in a positive manner, and left us with special memories and many countless smiles.
