An important part of history...

Queen Elizabeth and King George visit a bomb site

On a personal note, throughout my life, from childhood onward, my very own mother indeed spoke with great pride and admiration of the wonderful Queen Mother's actions in which she would dress in her finest clothes, and visit the site of the most recent bombings.

Indeed, for the ordinary people and for that generation, it was a truly extraordinary example of courage and willingness to share their common pain and sadness, to relate to them on a one-to-one positive manner. This example would stand out in history, as the Queen Mother reached out to all her subjects in a very special way and set a wonderful example.

Queen Mother's pallbears and her casket

This photograph is a powerful image, which finalizes a sincere good-bye to a special woman who had great dignity, common sense, and charm. The world prepares for the solemn occasion of her burial on April 9/02.

My final thoughts:

My mother also spoke of the time that she saw the Queen Mother and the King in 1939 for their first historic visit to Canada. Her warm smiles, along with her elegant and charming manner left a powerful and positive image that stayed with my mother that she proudly past on to her children.

I regret that I never saw her in real life. However, the impression, impact and contributions made by this special woman, has touched my life, just as it has touched the lives of so many of us around the world.

May she rest in peace...

Farewell to the Queen Mother!
